The City of Knoxville, in cooperation with Kroger, Food City, Goodwill, Waste Connections, and Rock-Tenn Recycling, operates 10 recycling centers. The recycling centers are divided into two categories depending on the types and number of materials accepted.

RECYCLING DROP-OFF SUPERCENTERS

There are nine recycling drop-off supercenters in the city that are operated in conjunction with Kroger and Goodwill Industries. The Centers are open 24 hours a day. Attendants from Goodwill staff the Supercenters from 9 AM to 5 PM.

SUPERCENTERS COLLECT:

#1-#7 Plastic Containers - Usually have a recycle logo labeled on container

Examples of plastics we CANNOT take:
X	Mixed containers such as those for nuts that have some plastic and some paper board and are difficult to separate	X	Non-container plastics (car bumpers, kiddy pools)	X	Household garbage / food waste
X	Styrofoam containers, boxes, packing materials even with the recycling triangle, styrofoam peanuts	X	Plastic Containers for hazardous fluids / materials	X	Garden hoses
X	Heavy plastic wrap such as the type that comes over paper towels or toilet paper	X	Clear storage bags and trash bags such as Hefty, Glad etc.	X	Other plastic films
X	Thin plastic wrap such as Saran wrap, cereal bags from the inside of cereal boxes	X	Post-industrial plastics, bulky plastics	X	Grocery Bags
